On behalf of President Trump and the American people, I extend my congratulations to the people of Japan on the occasion of His Majesty the Emperor’s 65th birthday.
The people of Japan have no greater friend than America, and our Alliance – now also in its 65th year – is stronger than it has ever been. As President Trump and Prime Minister Ishiba noted just two weeks ago, our two countries will pursue a new golden age for U.S.-Japan relations as we continue to uphold a free and open Indo-Pacific.
May the year ahead strengthen our enduring friendship, and may the Reiwa Era continue to bring health and prosperity to the people of Japan.
