The Hateful Eight feels very reminiscent of John Carpenter's The Thing in everything but name.
"Strip away the genres and they're the same film: a group of people trapped by a blizzard, every conversation a QTE. Both are chamber pieces about paranoia, suspicion, and the terrifying realisation that the greatest threat isn't what's outside the cabin... it's the person sitting across from you.
"Even the score by Ennio Morricone starts bleeding through The Hateful Eight, almost as if it's revealing itself after wearing the skin of the The Thing.
"It's evident to me that Tarantino loved The Thing, and essentially wrote a whole movie gushing about how cool The Thing is."
